An overview of human services
The field of Human Services is broadly defined, uniquely approaching the objective of meeting human needs through an interdisciplinary knowledge base, focusing on prevention as well as remediation of problems, and maintaining a commitment to improving the overall quality of life of service populations.
The Human Services profession is one which promotes improved service delivery systems by addressing not only the quality of direct services, but also by seeking to improve accessibility, accountability, and coordination among professionals and agencies in service delivery.

Credentialing
The Center for Credentialing & Education (CCE),
in collaboration with the National Organization for Human Services (NOHS), is conducting
a national survey to help define the human services practitioner. The purpose of the
survey is to describe the professional human services practitioner in sufficient detail
to provide a basis for creating a professional human services practitioner examination
that is valid to be used nationally.
This is your chance to help define your profession. By completing the survey, you will
be participating in the unique effort to create the definitive measure of human services
practice created by human services practitioners, for human services practitioners.
Please take the time to complete the survey by December 5, 2008. If you have any
questions or need assistance in completing the survey, please contact Shawn O'Brien at
CCE (336) 482-2856 or obrien@nbcc.org
The Survey can be accessed at http://www.JobDelineation.com/hs
